Stefan Buirs

Research & Curriculum

Stefan obtained his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at Leiden University. For his minor, he studied Brain and Cognition at the Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition (LIBC), and did a second minor in Disease, Signaling and Drug Targets (DSDT) at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR). During his bachelor’s internship at the Division of BioTherapeutics within the LACDR, he investigated the effect of the migration of clonally expanded CD4+ T cells on the progression of atherosclerosis. During this internship, he developed a particular interest in cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis. Currently, he is doing a master’s in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Division of BioTherapeutics. Within the Vascular Research Group, Stefan focusses on the pleiotropic effects of lipid-lowering therapies within the context of in vitro angiogenesis.”
